This piece is for both myself and all of the other artists out there. The quote in the piece is meant to say ‘hey, we’re here, and we’re going to be here no matter what’ in relation to the amount of times artists are told ‘you’ll never make it.’ 

My hand is the peace sign in the middle, suggesting that artists are peaceful, but we know when to stand our ground- as implied by the quote. Behind my hand and the two holding paint brushes are dahlias and orange blossoms to represent my Mexican heritage and the fact that I’ve lived in Florida my whole life. My background influences a lot of my work, and I wanted to make sure it was included in this bigger piece.
